Job Description

The East Texas Food Bank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Organizational Engagement. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and directing fundraising activities, including corporate gifts, foundation gifts, and public sector programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement fundraising and program strategies to identify, build, and expand current and prospective donors.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to ensure a uniform message and voice to all donors.
  • Establish forecasts and evaluate fundraising potential, researching and identifying sources of funds to support Food Bank programs.
  • Develop budgets and strategic plans, creating action plans, methods, materials, procedures, and reports for each event and campaign to enhance effectiveness and maximize revenue.
  • Work with the Communications and Marketing Director to create and edit appeals for seasonal campaigns and special events.
  • Manage Corporate Engagement Advisors in developing strategies to expand the pool of corporate donors, creating and implementing guidelines for donor stewardship and conveying the organization's appreciation.
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator and Corporate Engagement Advisors to implement a comprehensive corporate stewardship program.
  • Work with the Communications Department to employ innovative methods to communicate the Food Bank's mission, increasing community awareness, enthusiasm, and giving.
  • Manage grants staff in cultivating foundation, corporate, and government relationships.
  • Contribute to the development of external relationships and coalitions, staying abreast of relevant development opportunities with various community groups and agencies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the Food Bank's development programs.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies for continually improving the Food Bank's impact, effectiveness, and quality of fundraising activities.
  • Provide direction on funding potential of established and future programs, working closely with the Impact Department to implement plans, budgets, and forecasts, build community awareness, and cultivate relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; course work or professional certification in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years successful fundraising experience, including planning and capital campaigns that involve multiple fundraising disciplines and strategies.
  • Experience managing staff, working directly with high-level donors, and direct solicitation of potential donors.
  • Experience working with/alongside a variety of corporations in the East Texas area.
  • Commitment to the Food Bank's values and mission is essential.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability in working with and involving board members and other volunteers in development efforts.
  • Proven ability to initiate action and motivate others.
  • Solid track record with progressive management techniques and motivating employees.
  • Detail and results-oriented.
  • Excellent writing skills, including grant proposal development and business correspondence.
  • Team player, willingness to help others achieve success in fundraising campaigns.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, organizational, and client service skills required.
  • Willing to work flexible schedule.
  • Integrated and familiar with the East Texas community.
  • Technologically proficient, with intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to quickly learn new software, client databases, and inventory software.

Working Conditions:

This position works in an office environment but may require approximately 25% local travel and some weekends.
