RESPONSIBILITIES:

Youth Education Navigator Job Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about job center and workforce initiatives and services.
  • Conduct individual sessions with clients to clarify eligibility criteria and registration processes for available services.
  • Create and manage a comprehensive database of community resources, ensuring a robust referral system.
  • Engage in outreach efforts to educate clients about program options, rights, and responsibilities.
  • Provide assistance to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Build partnerships with local high schools.
  • Support youth in re-enrollment in high school after dropping out or relocating.
  • Explore alternative educational pathways for students outside traditional schooling.
  • Aid youth in enrolling in and completing GED/HSED programs, including support for teen parents in finding childcare.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with educational institutions and programs based on community needs.
  • Mediate student conflicts and facilitate social skills development through group activities.

Provide supportive services, including but not limited to:

  • Technology resources - laptops/tablets, mobile internet access, transportation assistance, and educational incentives (e.g., gift cards).
  • Basic school supplies (e.g., notebooks, folders, writing instruments) and necessary materials for school attendance (e.g., clothing, winter gear).
  • Home study materials (e.g., desks, lamps, chairs, headphones).

* Identify and connect clients with essential supports and services to meet their unique needs.

* Collaborate with case managers and educational partners to evaluate youth and identify suitable educational options and resources (e.g., mentoring, literacy programs, tutoring).

* Assist students facing academic, attendance, or behavioral challenges and guide families in accessing necessary services to enhance student success.

* Responsible for documenting participant information in relevant systems.

* Assist individuals with disabilities in navigating job center services, ensuring access to specialized resources.

* Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills while addressing client concerns and barriers.

* Connect youth with vocational training, college, or technical school opportunities.

* Act as the primary educational liaison for youth, staff, partners, and community organizations.

* Identify and link youth to resources that promote essential life skills, including financial literacy, household management, and leadership.

OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Youth Education Navigator Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma (or equivalent) supplemented by two years of relevant post-secondary education in human services or a related field. Additional years of relevant work experience may substitute for education.

Note:

* At least two years of experience in roles such as instructional aide, vocational technician, or career counseling.

* Familiarity with job center functions, eligibility requirements, and available services is essential.

* Preferred experience includes working with special education programs, individualized education plans, and dropout prevention strategies.

* Strong oral and written communication skills, along with problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

* Knowledge of community resources and effective organizational skills.

* Understanding of the educational needs of culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

* Bilingual in English and another language is preferred.

* Must possess a valid driver's license and adequate auto liability insurance.
