U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to fill the role of Border Patrol Agent. As a Border Patrol Agent, you will play a critical role in enforcing U.S. laws and regulations at and near the Mexican and Canadian international land borders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveillance and patrols along the international border to detect and prevent illegal activities
  • Respond to electronic sensor alarms and investigate suspicious activity
  • Interpret and follow tracks, marks, and other physical evidence to track and apprehend individuals
  • Use infrared scopes during night operations to detect and apprehend individuals
  • Perform farm and ranch checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks to prevent smuggling and other illegal activities
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets, including vehicles, horses, vessels, and watercraft

Requirements

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Be referred for selection prior to your 40th birthday (waiver for veterans' preference eligible or those that have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement position)
  • Have resided in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years
  • Be eligible to carry a firearm
  • Be willing to travel frequently, including extended domestic and foreign temporary duty assignments
