Job Overview

Position Summary: The Biomedical Equipment Technician II is responsible for performing foundational biomedical electronics tasks, including troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, calibrating, modifying, and testing medical devices and instruments essential for diagnosing and treating health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, calibration, and testing of both analog and digital biomedical electronic devices and instruments.
  • Implements preventive maintenance and electrical safety inspections on medical equipment, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety standards as well as manufacturer specifications.
  • Assists in the installation of clinical laboratory or patient care equipment and contributes to the development of procedures for the effective operation of electronic devices.
  • Ensures adherence to safety and environmental protocols while collaborating with faculty, staff, clients, vendors, and supervisors to identify equipment issues or service needs.
  • Evaluates medical devices and prepares documentation for any unusual incidents involving equipment malfunctions, while also helping to maintain an inventory database of equipment.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

This role may involve frequent exposure to challenging physical environments, including high noise levels and temperature variations. Technicians will regularly handle potentially hazardous equipment and may encounter biohazardous conditions, such as exposure to radiation, bloodborne pathogens, and toxic substances. Attention to safety is paramount, and the position may require working beyond standard hours, managing fluctuating workloads, and performing tasks that demand precise measurements of quality and quantity.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: An Associate's degree in Biomedical Technology or Electronics Technology, coupled with two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
