About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as the Director of Nursing for our home health and hospice agency, A Hug Away Healthcare. This leadership position will require both field and office duties, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care, ensuring high standards of documentation, and leading a diverse team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Lead and manage the nursing team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high-quality patient care.
    • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration among staff members.
    • Ensure the clinical staff is educated and the development of such is ongoing, with a focus on continuous learning and professional development.
    • Develop and implement processes to ensure an organized approach to daily tasks, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Willing to Learn new things and play a key role in the growth of the company, with a focus on innovation and improvement.
    • Develop relationships in the clinical community and act as a source of education for non-clinicians, with a focus on marketing and outreach.
    • Ensure quality assurance and compliance of clinical notes and processes, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
    • Participate with local and federal agencies to ensure successful surveys, with a focus on compliance and accreditation.
    • Encourage growth physically and intellectually, with a focus on employee development and well-being.
    • Work closely with management in the hiring of talented staff to ensure the company vision and goals are met, with a focus on recruitment and retention.
  • Patient Care:
    • Oversee and coordinate patient care plans, ensuring they meet the needs of each patient, with a focus on individualized care.
    • Conduct field visits to assess patient conditions and provide direct care as needed, with a focus on patient-centered care.
    • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care is delivered, with a focus on interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Documentation and Compliance:
    • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care and medical records, with a focus on compliance and accuracy.
    • Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, with a focus on quality and safety.
    • Conduct regular audits of patient charts and documentation to ensure quality and accuracy, with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Adhere to all state and federal regulations and policies, with a focus on compliance and accountability.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to improve patient outcomes, with a focus on quality and safety.
    • Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address them, with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Participate in QA meetings and contribute to the development of policies and procedures, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.
  • Education and Training:
    • Provide education and training to nursing staff on best practices, policies, and procedures, with a focus on continuous learning and professional development.
    • Mentor and support new staff members, ensuring a smooth onboarding process, with a focus on employee development and well-being.
    • Promote continuous learning and professional development among the nursing team, with a focus on innovation and improvement.
  • Cultural Competence:
    • We are a small agency specifically geared towards excellence in hospice for adults and children, with a focus on community leadership and outreach.
    • Work effectively with diverse age groups, cultures, and ethnic groups, demonstrating respect and understanding, with a focus on cultural competence and sensitivity.
    • Promote an inclusive environment that values diversity and addresses the needs of all patients, with a focus on patient-centered care and cultural sensitivity.
    Qualifications
    • Education and Experience:
      • Current and valid RN license in the state of employment, with a focus on licensure and certification.
      • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role, with a focus on experience and expertise.
      • Experience in hospice care is preferred, with a focus on specialized knowledge and skills.
      • Bilingual (preferred), with a focus on language and cultural competence.
      • Experience working with or willingness to work with children required, with a focus on pediatric care and development.
    • Skills and Abilities:
      • Strong leadership and management skills, with a focus on leadership and teamwork.
      • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
      • Knowledge of current Medicare guidelines and able to ensure compliance, with a focus on regulatory standards and compliance.
      • Open to working with families with children and the ability to get these families clinical care either through personal care or human resource contacts, with a focus on patient-centered care and family engagement.
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.
      • Kind and caring in nature but with the ability to lead by example, with a focus on leadership and role modeling.
      • Proficient using Kinnser, with a focus on technology and innovation.
      • Willingness to learn and apply new processes and practices to enhance the company's objective to services the community through all ages and stages, with a focus on continuous learning and professional development.
      • Ability to be the clinical face of A Hug Away Healthcare and lead us into a bright future caring for families with home health and hospice needs, with a focus on leadership and vision.
    • Additional Requirements:
