Position Summary:

The Clinic Assistant at OrthoArkansas plays a vital role in delivering a seamless patient experience. This position is responsible for welcoming patients, collecting essential information, and assisting healthcare providers during appointments. The Clinic Assistant is key to maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Engagement:
    • Welcome patients warmly upon their arrival.
    • Prepare patients for consultations by obtaining vital signs and conducting medication reviews.
    • Respond to patient inquiries via phone in a timely manner.
    • Assist in scheduling tests and surgeries, and communicate appointment details to patients and facilities.
    • Complete necessary medical documentation for patients.
  • Clinical Assistance:
    • Input provider orders for therapies, medical equipment, diagnostic tests, and surgical procedures into the electronic medical record (EMR).
    • Process medication refill requests.
    • Conduct wound care and change dressings as required.
    • Prepare injection medications and set up injection sites.
    • Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in examination rooms and nursing stations.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Manage the triage phone line effectively.
    • Facilitate communication and coordination among patients, healthcare providers, and medical staff.
    • Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 0 to 6 months of relevant experience or training, or a combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to adapt to various work environments.
    • Prior experience as a clinic assistant is advantageous.
  • Skills:
    • Basic knowledge of database management and word processing.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
    • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced setting while managing multiple responsibilities.

Certifications:

  • No specific certifications required.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Medical Assistant Certification is a plus.
