Position Overview:
The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing direct patient care within the Psychiatric Research Institute's Adolescent Substance Use Program. This position operates under the close supervision of nursing staff, assisting in both the examination and treatment processes for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare examination rooms for patient assessments.
- Assist healthcare professionals during medical procedures and examinations.
- Conduct patient interviews and measure vital signs, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Perform EKGs and dressing changes as required.
- Administer medications as per approved protocols.
- Document physician's notes and manage clinical orders for laboratory testing.
- Handle administrative tasks such as patient registration and appointment scheduling using various systems.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned to support the clinic's operations.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent educational background.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and a solid work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an outpatient care environment.
- At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
