Quality Reporting Program Coder

Position Overview
The Quality Reporting Program (QRP) Coder plays a crucial role in ensuring precise QRP scores for all adult inpatient admissions and discharges. These scores are documented in the patient's electronic health record for utilization in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI).
Key Responsibilities
- QRP Coding: Extracts QRP scores from patients, families, caregivers, and/or IRF records to accurately assign QRP codes.
- Data Entry: Inputs QRP Admission codes into the electronic health record prior to Therapy Evaluations.
- Discharge Coding: Records QRP Discharge codes in the electronic health record the day before patient discharge.
- Flexible Scheduling: Adjusts work hours to accommodate the needs of patients requiring QRP coding.
- Additional Duties: Completes other assigned tasks under the supervision of the PPS Program Coordinators or the Supervisor of PPS Compliance to support the PPS Program.
- Professional Environment: Fosters a culture of accountability, solution-oriented behavior, and mutual respect, along with effective communication and openness to change.
- Collaboration: Encourages teamwork across all disciplines within the inpatient rehabilitation unit and with other departments to deliver exceptional rehabilitation services.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Promotes a culture of respect and equity by treating everyone with dignity, providing opportunities for underrepresented groups, and addressing disparities.
Customer Service Commitment
Exhibits outstanding customer service and behavioral standards, while mentoring and monitoring the same in team members. This role requires discretion and sensitivity when handling confidential information.
Quality Improvement Contributions
Actively participates in identifying issues and proposing solutions to enhance patient and family satisfaction, contributing to departmental initiatives aimed at monitoring and improving customer service.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: At least two years of relevant clinical experience in an Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital.
- Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in information management to interpret and present data effectively.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a professional team.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Skilled in multitasking and delegating tasks for timely project completion.
- Strong commitment to the organizational mission with a proactive approach to achieving goals.
Physical Requirements
Activity Levels:
- Occasionally: Remain stationary.
- Frequently: Use keyboard.
