About the Role:

The Regional Professional Coding Supervisor-HIM will be responsible for overseeing and managing the hospital's professional coding functions. This includes developing and implementing methods to attain and maintain coding metrics, establishing reporting tools and dashboards to monitor performance, and communicating regulatory information to coding specialists.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day management of the hospital's professional coding
  • Develop and implement methods to attain and maintain coding metrics
  • Establish reporting tools and dashboards to monitor performance
  • Communicate regulatory information to coding specialists
  • Provide coding assistance in relation to record documentation, data collections, data retrieval, and data interpretation
  • Collaborate with other departments or programs
  • Maintain effective communication regarding coding issues with physicians and other hospital department staff
  • Participate in organizational team meetings and workshops
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in HIM or relevant health care field
  • Certification as an RHIT or CCS by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or CPC by the American Association of Procedural Coders (AAPC)
  • Member in good standing with the AHIMA and/or AAPC
  • Minimum of 1 year of lead or supervisory experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant coding experience
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet applications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • RHIA
  • Epic experience
  • Optum and/or 3M encoder experience
