We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to support our efforts in identifying, acquiring, and permanently protecting places of notable African American history, culture, and heritage.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct a nationwide inventory of unprotected sites and develop an inventory of these sites in collaboration with local communities and multi-sectorial partner organizations.
- Identify potential national funders committed to the preservation of African American heritage sites and secure critical funding support on a broader scale.
- Develop a database of potential public funding available for direct conservation dollars that will help communities access opportunities for local, state, and federal funding.
- Support the launch of a new national effort to protect and preserve African American Heritage Sites.
- Currently enrolled in or graduating from an accredited college or university with a minimum of two years completed coursework.
- Strong interest in/awareness of Civil Rights history and community engagement.
- Passion for conservation and our mission.
- Knowledge regarding conservation and real estate transactions.
- Experience and understanding of nonprofit fundraising.
- Strong skills and previous experiences related to project management, facilitation, public speaking, communications, grant writing, and research.
This position is performed primarily in an office setting.
CompensationThis position pays $21/hour.
