Job Summary

Hope Haven is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to connect with current and previous residents in their workforce development journey. The ideal candidate will assist with managing resident job readiness, job search, and referral to vocational training, while providing input on agency mission alignment with developing a foundation of recovery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Engage residents for application appointments and build rapport through the application process.
  • Submit referrals without prejudice to eligible residents.
  • Adhere to residents' rights and follow Hope Haven's code of professional conduct.
  • Attend clinical department meetings and provide valuable experiences related to substance abuse recovery and workforce development.
  • Identify strengths and barriers through the workforce development process.
  • Document every resident encounter through the KIPU system.
  • Attend partner agency meetings and report back to the team.
  • Research available employment, housing opportunities, training/educational, and low-cost medical services.
Position Qualifications
  • Adhere to all HIPAA and confidentiality rules and guidelines.
  • Lived experience with substance abuse and substance use disorder, with a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety.
  • Empower residents through shared understanding, respect, and mutual engagement.
  • Have a strong desire for education advancement and training courses offered free to Hope Haven staff members.
  • Satisfactorily complete all required training established by Hope Haven, Inc.
  • Maintain all CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Proficient written, oral, and computer skills to effectively communicate within the team, with community partners, and residents.
  • Proficient Microsoft Suite skills.
  • Have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform duties responsibly, respectfully, and time efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Emotional stability, warmth, and friendliness to a diverse staff and treatment community.
  • Cause no harm to self and others on site or off site.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by Hope Haven's carrier.
  • Certified peer support specialist preferred, but not required.
  • Flexibility in assigned duties.
