Assistant Nurse Manager (RN) - 8S ACE Unit

ChristianaCare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as an Assistant Nurse Manager for the 8S Acute Care for Elder (ACE) Unit at Wilmington Hospital.

About the Role

As an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will play a critical role in the overall administrative direction of the clinical practice of nursing and delivery of high-quality and cost-effective care to all patients utilizing the services of this area. You will collaborate with the Nurse Manager to directly supervise all nursing and technical personnel, assess the competency of staff, evaluate staff performance, and counsel staff members when performance issues are identified.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical practice of nursing and delivery of high-quality and cost-effective care to all patients utilizing the services of this area.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to directly supervise all nursing and technical personnel.
  • Assess the competency of staff and evaluate staff performance.
  • Counsel staff members when performance issues are identified.
  • Function as a highly visible role model, demonstrating quality expertise and professional behaviors that support the professional development of staff and the strategic goals of CCHS.
  • Identify and develop strategies to improve the overall knowledge base and professionalism of staff.
  • Direct, mentor, and support all levels of staff on the floor.
  • Identify potential future leaders and engage in succession planning.
  • Analyze administrative and operational functions; develop, implement, and monitor performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
About the Unit

The 8S ACE Unit is a 30-bed medical-surgical unit specializing in Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE), located on the 8th floor, south tower of the Wilmington campus. The unit provides scheduled and emergent care/procedures on a 24-hour basis to older adult patients who need acute hospitalization.

Requirements
  • Nursing licensure in the State of DE or Compact State.
  • A master's degree in nursing, healthcare, or business management is required within five years of the hire date.
  • Gerontological, med-surg, and stroke are the professional certifications recognized in this patient care area.
