Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) - 8S Acute Care for Elder (ACE) Unit

ChristianaCare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as an Assistant Nurse Manager on our 8S Acute Care for Elder (ACE) Unit.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical practice of nursing and delivery of high-quality and cost-effective care to all patients utilizing the services of this area.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to directly supervise all nursing and technical personnel, assess the competency of staff, and oversee daily staffing and scheduling needs of the department.
  • Evaluate staff performance, counsel staff members when performance issues are identified, and participate in all hiring, promotion, salary adjustment, and termination decisions.
  • Function as a highly visible role model, demonstrating quality expertise and professional behaviors that support the professional development of staff and the strategic goals of CCHS.
  • Identify and develop strategies to improve the overall knowledge base and professionalism of staff, direct, mentor, and support all levels of staff on the floor, and identify potential future leaders and engage in succession planning.
  • Analyze administrative and operational functions, implement appropriate changes and system-wide improvements, and develop, implement, and monitor performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
About the Unit:

The 8 South unit is a 30-bed medical-surgical unit, specializing in Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE), located on the 8th floor, south tower of the Wilmington campus. The unit provides scheduled and emergent care/procedures on a 24-hour basis, catering to older adults ages 65 and above with fair to serious conditions.

Requirements:
  • Nursing licensure in the State of DE or Compact State.
  • BSN required, with a master's degree in nursing, healthcare, or business management required within five years of the hire date.
  • 3-5 years of clinical and leadership experience in the specialty, with BLS required and professional certification required within 6 months of the hire date.
