Role Summary:

The Patient Care Technician is responsible for delivering direct care to patients of all ages under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This role adheres to established protocols, the mission of Mercy Health System, and the ethical standards set forth by our organization. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Key Qualifications:
  • Education: A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required, along with enrollment in an accredited nursing program. Candidates must provide proof of completion of Fundamentals of Nursing and a competency skills list from their educational institution. Maintaining good standing in the nursing program is essential for this position.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory within the first month of employment.
  • Physical Requirements: The role necessitates the ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, along with prolonged periods of standing and walking. Candidates should be capable of gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting as part of their duties.
  • Preferred Experience: Previous experience as an EMT, Paramedic, or in patient care is advantageous. Preferred certifications include Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) in the relevant state.
