Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist Technician to join our team at MedStar Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing all aspects of phlebotomy functions and specimen collections, including venous and capillary collections and/or glucose testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood from patients according to laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Verify patient insurance and perform basic data entry to register and accession in and/or out-patient orders.
  • Comply with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Greets patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Verifies correct patient identification in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Performs phlebotomy proficiently on all patient types.
  • Maintains a good attendance record.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with other departments and coworkers.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of Hospital-approved phlebotomy course required.
  • 6 months phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification preferred.
  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State (DRLIC) Valid driver's license in the State of Maryland and dependable vehicle for transportation preferred.
