Within our organization, International SOS Government Medical Services (GMS), based in Houston, Texas, provides healthcare support to government agencies and contractors, assisting in military operations, disaster response, and refugee care.

Position Overview

This role supports the provision of care for individuals with special needs during large-scale emergencies. The selected candidate must be prepared to respond to disasters within 24 hours of notification and establish care within 72 hours. This position involves post-disaster management and requires the individual to be present on-site until the operation concludes. The RN Medical Manager oversees the medical operations at the shelter and acts as the deputy team leader for the project. Administrative oversight of all nursing personnel at the shelter is a key responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Accredited nursing program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Graduation from an associate's or baccalaureate nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
  • A minimum of five years of professional nursing experience in a hospital, medical office, or residential setting. Must hold a current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the relevant state.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of nursing operations in austere environments.
  • Familiarity with special needs populations (preferred).
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and web-based training.
  • Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Cultural competency and interpersonal skills.
Work Schedule and On-Call Requirements

  • This position requires availability upon notification.
  • Shifts will be 12 hours per day until the operation is complete.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform the duties outlined above.
  • Capacity to work in challenging environments with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Frequent use of standard office technology, including computers and telephones.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
Travel Requirements

  • Travel to designated locations upon notification.
