Our team of 50 technical specialists boasts over 1,000 years of collective environmental expertise, featuring engineers with specializations in Air Quality, Waste, Water, CEQA, Safety, and Industrial Hygiene.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Compliance Engineer to enhance our team in Northern California. This is a full-time role, requiring 40 hours per week at one of our Northern California offices during standard business hours. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct professional engineering tasks of significant complexity and manage technical projects and daily compliance related to Waste, Water, and Safety regulations.
  • Support our multimedia services, including Hazardous Waste/Materials management, Storm Water and Wastewater compliance, On-Site compliance, and Safety/Industrial Hygiene initiatives.
  • Analyze regulatory compliance requirements and technical issues, effectively communicating findings within Yorke, to clients, and to regulatory bodies.
  • Provide assistance to project teams and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5-15 years of experience as an Environmental and/or Safety Professional, focusing on Waste, Water, Air, and/or Safety/Industrial Hygiene, preferably in a consulting setting.
  • Familiarity with various aspects of EH&S services, including:
    • Hazardous Waste and Materials Compliance (CalARP, SPCCs, HMBPs, CERS, TRI Reporting);
    • Industrial Storm Water and Wastewater Permitting and Compliance;
    • On-Site EHS Support;
    • QISP Services, MS4 Permits, Special Discharge Permits;
    • Job Hazard Analyses;
    • Personal Protective Equipment;
    • OSHA Regulations;
    • Industrial Hygiene Monitoring and Reporting;
    • Ergonomics Evaluations and Reporting;
    • Experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO);
    • Illness and Injury Prevention Plans (IIPP);
    • Training on new regulations;
    • Experience or interest in working within process, manufacturing, or other industrial facilities as a consultant;
    • Timely preparation of reports and submissions;
    • Support for Project Managers and Team Members in project activities;
    • Ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously while maintaining quality focus;
    • Conduct safety, environmental, or occupational health inspections to identify potential hazards.

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. degree or higher in Public Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field from an accredited institution (minimum GPA of 3.0).
  • CSP or CIH certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience in supporting project teams.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise in Multimedia, EH&S, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply regulations towards practical solutions.
  • Capable of working independently in field settings.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in advanced computer applications, database management, and Microsoft 365 tools including SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Field experience and willingness to travel to client locations.
