Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Eligibility Specialist II to join our team at My Florida Corp Defunct. As an Eligibility Specialist II, you will play a critical role in determining initial and ongoing eligibility for social service programs, including reviewing and analyzing error-prone and complex cases to evaluate the quality of services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews to collect and update personal data on applicants and clients, and assist applicants and clients in clarifying and obtaining documentation required to establish eligibility.
  • Assist clients in obtaining documentation when the individual is unable to act on their own behalf, and review documents for validity.
  • Initiate necessary collateral contracts to verify information provided by applicants and clients.
  • Review and analyze forms, applications, documents, or other information to make eligibility determinations.
  • Obtain necessary documentation, certification, or approval in support of actions.
  • Use mainframe computer systems or software applications to access, create, edit, print, send, retrieve, or manipulate data, files, or other information.
  • Provide applicants and clients with information concerning other department and community assistance programs and make referrals as appropriate.
  • Plan, evaluate, guide, and coach staff as required.
  • Conduct fraud investigations and recommend appropriate action.
  • Review and analyze error-prone and complex cases to assist entry-level staff.
  • Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures.
  • Collect data, compile, and organize information.
  • Verify accuracy of data and reconcile errors or inconsistencies.
  • Provide training to other staff.
  • Explain or justify decisions, conclusions, findings, or recommendations.
  • Maintain or update data, records, or other information to ensure accurate case records.
  • Makes recommendations for improvements, solves problems, or takes corrective action when issues arise.
  • Use prescribed mathematical and statistical formulas, schedules, tables, or procedures to perform eligibility determination.
  • Collaborate with others or work on teams to accomplish work-related activities and to determine appropriate action or recommend improvements or solutions to problems.
  • Read and understand non-technical materials such as letters, memoranda, electronic mail, or simple instructions.
  • Complete forms, documents, or routine reports, and compose simple correspondence or other written work such as memoranda and form letters.
  • Retrieve, add, or remove materials from a filing system.
  • Types materials and transfers information from one document or record to another.
  • Perform other related work as required.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional experience in determining eligibility for social insurance or social service programs.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience as described above.
  • Para-professional experience involving eligibility determination, investigations, interviewing, counseling, recruitment, claims taking, or claims examining in a social insurance or social service program can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
