Position Summary:

As a Residential Generator Service Specialist, you will play a vital role in our organization, ensuring that clients have dependable power solutions during outages. Your duties will include the maintenance and servicing of residential generators, executing precise installations that adhere to local regulations, diagnosing intricate issues, and performing effective repairs. You will also conduct load bank tests, keep detailed records, prioritize safety, and interact with clients in a professional manner. A solid understanding of schematics, familiarity with various generator brands, and a strong work ethic are crucial.

Compensation: $18 - $30 / hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generator Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance and servicing of residential generators to ensure optimal performance.
  • Generator Installation: Install residential generators at client locations, adhering to manufacturer specifications and local guidelines.
  • Issue Diagnosis: Identify and troubleshoot generator issues, including electrical, mechanical, and control system problems.
  • Generator Repairs: Efficiently repair and replace defective components to restore generators to operational status.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to provide information, answer inquiries, and educate them on proper generator care and operation.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of all services, installations, and repairs performed.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and others.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of electrical systems, generators, and control mechanisms.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and be available for emergency services.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all relevant regulations.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
  • Clean driving record is mandatory.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electrical or mechanical systems is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in servicing, installing, and repairing generators is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Climbing ladders up to 10 feet in height.
  • Capability to wear and utilize all required safety equipment, including power and hand tools.
  • Normal color vision is required; color blindness is not acceptable.
  • Expectation to stand and walk throughout the workday.
