Position Summary

We are looking for a Property Accountant to join our Philadelphia Headquarters, responsible for managing accounting functions for our owned properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine lease profiles for accuracy in rent billings, late fees, lease options, security deposits, and incentives.
  • Process daily cash receipt batches efficiently.
  • Support the Accounts Receivable team in the collection of overdue tenant accounts.
  • Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Assist the team with:
    • Month-end general ledger review
    • Preparation of month-end adjusting journal entries
    • Generation of month-end accrual journal entries
    • Updating monthly property accounting workpapers for balance sheet accounts including prepaid taxes, prepaid repairs and maintenance, unbilled receivables, and accrued expenses.
  • Provide ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience; experience in real estate accounting is preferred.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Excel and Word; familiarity with general ledger software is required, MRI experience is a plus.
  • Experience in a multi-site environment, publicly traded companies, and the REIT sector is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills are essential.

Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, possess strong analytical skills, exhibit high attention to detail, and have the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced corporate setting.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Capability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to real-world scenarios.

Reasoning Skills:

  • Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Capacity to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in both mathematical and diagrammatic forms and to manage several abstract and concrete variables.
