Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Real Estate Investment Analyst to join our team at our headquarters. This role is pivotal within our streamlined investment group, reporting directly to the Corporate Vice President of Investments and the Senior Vice President of Investments. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial and investment modeling capabilities, exceptional analytical skills, and outstanding interpersonal abilities, with opportunities to present insights to various organizational levels, including senior management and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of the real estate transaction process, including collaboration with brokers on valuation analyses and investment sales, as well as managing due diligence for new investments, sales, and financing.
  • Evaluate new investment prospects, including potential property acquisitions and partnership structures, utilizing ARGUS and Excel.
  • Analyze a diverse range of investment opportunities.
  • Develop proficiency in modeling complex joint venture and structured finance waterfalls in Excel, including initial structuring and ongoing valuation.
  • Prepare financial models for development and redevelopment projects.
  • Create presentations to assess transactions and summarize analyses using PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Lead special research projects and assignments as needed.
  • Conduct market research on sales and lease comparisons for various projects; maintain and update the internal sales comparison database.
  • Source investment opportunities and market intelligence from various platforms (e.g., CoStar, Trepp, Green Street, S&P Financial).
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses as required.
  • Coordinate reporting to third-party partners and lenders as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. The qualifications outlined below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for success:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or a related discipline is essential.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in real estate investments, lending, or appraisal is preferred.
  • Proficiency in ARGUS is required.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are necessary.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as CoStar, Trepp, Green Street, and S&P Financial is advantageous.
  • Solid experience in financial modeling and the ability to build and manipulate complex spreadsheets (including DCF/NPV/IRR analysis) is essential.
  • Experience in modeling complex waterfalls for structured finance transactions or development projects in Excel is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize both general concepts and raw data into comprehensive financial analyses.
