POSITION OVERVIEWAn Assembler in the Metal Finishing Department on the second shift is responsible for the safe and precise loading and unloading of the metal finishing conveyor.
The Assembler must make immediate quality assessments on conforming and non-conforming products on the line. This role encompasses all facets of the metal coating process, emphasizing performance, quality assurance, and timely execution.
We value initiative, adaptability, and a willingness to assist colleagues as needed.
The Assembler takes responsibility for all aspects of their job, including safety, quality, and output. Duties are performed with an open and objective approach, employing a 'best practice' mindset to foster continuous improvement in all job-related tasks.
Job responsibilities include completing tasks in a manner that supports key company objectives such as safety, quality, productivity, and timely order fulfillment. The Assembler is also responsible for maintaining cleanliness in work areas, including floor cleaning, organizing hooks and pallets, and disposing of recycling materials.
Essential Skills- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on coating systems, pre-heat and cure ovens, and cooling tunnels.
- Capability to interpret scheduling documents and other correspondence related to conforming and non-conforming parts.
- Skill in inspecting parts against quality standards and determining necessary actions for non-conforming items.
- Ability to sand, scrap, and reorder parts that do not meet quality standards.
- Physical capability to lift and carry heavy components, pallets, and returnable bins.
- Ability to maintain a fast pace during line operations.
- Skill in differentiating colors and assessing quality using approved color samples.
- Proficiency in using paint measuring devices for quality assessment and documentation.
- Experience with scanners and printers, including maintenance.
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED), or relevant work experience demonstrating competency in performance.
