Position Overview

The Office of Court Administration (OCA) is a distinguished state agency within the Judicial Branch, operating under the auspices of the Supreme Court of Texas. Our primary objective is to furnish resources and insights that facilitate the effective management of the Judicial Branch in Texas.

Role Summary

The Court Services Consultant is tasked with providing expert consultation and technical support regarding court administration to judges, clerks, court personnel, and other county officials. This role emphasizes enhancing court operations, courtroom management, and specialty court functions. The consultant will conduct comprehensive reviews of caseflow management systems across various court levels and assist in the development and implementation of improved caseflow management strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert technical assistance and consulting services on court administration, focusing on caseflow management.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of caseflow management practices in Texas courts.
  • Facilitate training sessions on effective caseflow management techniques.
  • Provide specialized support for the operations of specialty courts.
  • Design and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing court administrative functions and accessibility.
  • Promote OCA's consulting services, case management reviews, and court improvement initiatives.
  • Support OCA's clearinghouse function by sharing information on innovative court programs.
  • Identify and analyze emerging challenges and trends in judicial administration.
  • Assist with necessary data reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Create webinars, reports, and training materials to aid courts and clerks in effective judicial administration.
  • Monitor and analyze court-related legislation during legislative sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in accordance with OCA policies.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a major in business administration, court administration, public administration, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in court administration or management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with judges, court personnel, and government officials.
  • Proven track record in project development, execution, and evaluation.
  • Experience in training delivery or the creation of training programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of judicial system operations and challenges.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously with high-ranking public officials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Employment Conditions

  • Standard office equipment operation.
  • Primarily sedentary office work.
  • Extended periods of sitting may be required.
  • May involve moving materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary for conducting agency-related business.
