Position Overview:
The Pediatric Physiatrist plays a crucial role in delivering specialized medical care in the field of Physiatry (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) to patients at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.
This role is aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, ensuring high-quality care and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
The Pediatric Physiatrist will engage in both inpatient and outpatient services, with a current inpatient service running 6-12 and outpatient services scheduled for 2-3 half days per week. Weekend call is part of a 1/6 rotation.
Essential Duties Include:
- Delivering professional medical services in Physiatry to both inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Conducting timely consultations at referring hospitals and facilities.
- Performing invasive procedures within the standard scope of physiatry practice, contingent upon established credentials and procedural guidelines.
- Maintaining accurate and timely medical records while collaborating with billing, peer review, and compliance initiatives.
- Providing oversight and educational support for students, residents, and mid-level providers.
- Upholding staff privileges at Mary Free Bed and other mutually agreed hospitals, fulfilling all necessary duties to maintain those privileges.
- Identifying and advocating for opportunities to enhance patient care and actively participating in quality improvement initiatives.
- Staying informed on advancements in the specialty field and promoting new programs that align with established criteria.
- Leading the treatment team for assigned patients, fostering effective teamwork and collaboration.
- Enhancing awareness of Mary Free Bed's capabilities and services among medical professionals and the community through participation in educational sessions and outreach programs.
- Contributing to the financial sustainability of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.
- Encouraging the development and sharing of new knowledge, particularly in peer-reviewed journals.
- Embracing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by treating all individuals with respect, promoting opportunities for underrepresented cultures, and addressing disparities.
- Demonstrating exemplary customer service and fostering a culture of teamwork and open communication.
Quality Improvement Responsibilities:
Actively participate in identifying challenges and proposing solutions to enhance patient and family satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Board certified or board-eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
- Valid State of Michigan Medical License.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Current ACLS certification, and PALS certification if working with pediatric populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in developing innovative treatment programs and paradigms is advantageous.
