Building Code Enforcement Officer

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Building Code Enforcement Officer to join our team at the City of Garland, Texas. As a key member of our public service team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community by enforcing city ordinances and building codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce city ordinances and building codes in residential areas
- Respond to and investigate citizen complaints
- Issue notices of violation, citations, and nuisance abatement work orders
- Prepare cases for the Property Standards Board
- Assist with training new Code Inspectors
Requirements
- 60 college credit hours advanced training beyond high school level in a related area
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable ordinances, laws, codes, and regulations
- Ability to learn quickly and remain flexible in a fast-paced work environment
- Multi-lingual (Spanish) skills highly preferred
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Valid Class C Texas driver's license
