Your Responsibilities
This position requires full-time onsite engagement.

This role is for a Virtualization Solutions Architect. The project involves a Flexpod architecture supported by vSphere and ESXi, utilizing Cisco UCS and Cisco X-Series blades alongside a combination of storage solutions from NetApp and Pure. The architecture represents a hyperconverged, multitenant private cloud hosting environment tailored for Army enterprise and tactical applications. It employs the complete suite of VMware products (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation, Tanzu) to establish a Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) across multiple global locations. This initiative delivers value-added common and managed services built upon the VMware foundation, essential for hosting Army applications.
  • Collaborate with Government engineers to design and sustain the architecture.
  • Create, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for the deployment and maintenance of the VMware product suite.
  • As applications are integrated into the solution, utilize IaC for the setup of customer enclaves.
  • Conduct daily administration of VMware products, including patching and upgrading all components.
  • Monitor the utilization of all virtualization resources and inform the lead when additional resources are necessary.
  • Fortify VMware products according to industry best practices and mandated government cybersecurity standards.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for any issues within the hosting platform.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation (system diagrams, network topologies, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures).
  • Provide on-call support for the triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
  • Propose enhancements for security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a diverse range of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.
  • This position necessitates the ability to obtain a Secret Security clearance or higher (US Citizenship is required).

Required Certifications:
Security+ or equivalent DoD M IA Tech Level II certification.

Must possess (or acquire within 6 months of hire) VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Advanced Professional (VCAP), or Design Expert (VCDX) certification in any of the following tracks:
  • Data Center Virtualization
  • Cloud Management and Automation
  • Network Virtualization
  • Application Modernization
  • Requires 10 years of relevant experience or (Masters plus 12 years of relevant experience)
  • Senior-level expertise with the VMware product suite (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation, Tanzu).
  • Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Robust troubleshooting abilities across the entire technology stack: network, storage, server, and applications.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Familiarity with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process.
