About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled NPD Design Engineer to join our team at Astec. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing new products and improving existing ones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new products and product lines, including conceptual and final design solutions
  • Manage and coordinate project activities, including testing and analysis
  • Support existing product offerings and develop design concepts to meet cost objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and service
  • Develop and guide necessary computations, including load development, stress analysis, and costing
  • Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing and design issues
  • Use root cause analysis and problem-solving skills to improve products and implement corrective actions
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Agriculture, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic, and electrical/control system design)
  • Proficient with CAD software applications (SolidWorks preferred) and ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams and prioritize tasks
Work Environment

The work environment is a climate-controlled office environment with occasional exposure to a shop manufacturing environment. The noise level in the office setting is usually moderate, while the shop can be very loud at times. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures.
