Position Overview: Laboratory Support Specialist Level I/II, Accessions, Team Leads
  • Manage and deliver specimens to the designated laboratory testing area according to collection urgency.
  • Utilize a centrifuge for the separation of blood specimens.
  • Ensure proper labeling of specimens with necessary identification details.
  • Confirm receipt of specimens in the laboratory information system and apply appropriate coding.
  • Transfer specimens into suitable containers as required.
  • Register patient data and input laboratory orders into the system.
  • Prepare and dispatch specimens for specialized testing.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and monitoring of laboratory equipment.
  • Address phone inquiries and liaise with other healthcare departments.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
Ability to walk for up to six (6) hours in half-hour segments. Frequent use of fingers for data entry, hands for specimen handling, and upper body for transporting specimens. Occasionally required to lift up to ten (10) pounds, with rare instances of heavier lifting, bending, or reaching above shoulder height. Normal hearing and vision capabilities are essential.

Educational Qualifications
High School Diploma is required.
