Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, this position involves leading kitchen operations and managing shifts effectively. The Senior Kitchen Manager will foster a collaborative environment among the kitchen team, ensuring seamless preparation and presentation of menu items. Close coordination with the General Manager is essential to guarantee optimal service execution and inventory management aligned with business demands. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of all kitchen positions and the ability to step in as needed. Additionally, involvement in the recruitment, selection, and training of kitchen personnel is expected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement opening procedures, including product reception, invoice verification, and temperature logging.
- Comprehend the operational framework and principles of the establishment.
- Collaborate with the Sous Chef to uphold the highest culinary standards.
- Oversee time management for kitchen staff, including breaks and labor scheduling.
- Assist in budgeting and inventory management, including food and dry goods counts.
- Enforce hygiene and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with FIFO guidelines and proper labeling procedures.
- Manage order scheduling and adjust reservation orders as necessary to address supply chain challenges.
- Ensure that food preparation meets company standards, conducting quality control checks and recipe adjustments as needed.
- Train new kitchen staff on their designated stations and be available to cover any station as required.
- Expedite food orders during service to manage ticket times and maintain communication with the front of house team.
- Oversee closing procedures, including equipment breakdown, invoicing, and employee checkouts.
- Effectively implement new menu rollouts and educate team members accordingly.
- Promote safe work practices and maintain safety standards within the kitchen.
- Prepare necessary food and station setups prior to scheduled events.
- Ensure efficient and accurate use of kitchen supplies and equipment.
- Conduct inventory assessments and place orders as required.
- Culinary degree preferred; High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of management experience in an upscale or lifestyle brand environment.
- Ability to excel in a high-pressure kitchen setting.
- Skill in precision plating and coaching team members to meet company standards.
- Passion for culinary arts and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
