Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Registration and Eligibility Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our Admitting and Registration department, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless patient access and registration processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Registration and Eligibility: Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, obtain necessary signatures, and ensure accurate demographic and financial information.
  • Patient Access: Assist patients in locating departments, schedule appointments, and refer patients to appropriate services and resources.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, ensuring quality service and customer satisfaction.
  • Data Entry and Research: Perform data entry and research using various hospital system programs, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Financial Assistance: Interview patients and complete applications for financial assistance programs, including Medicaid and charity care.
  • Training and Development: Participate in educational programs, attend in-services, and engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School or GED Equivalent
  • Experience: 2 years directly related experience
  • Credentials: Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
Working Conditions:

This is a sedentary role that involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing. The work environment is office-based with minimal hazards and physical risks.
