Job Overview

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a Healthcare Support Specialist to become part of our Cancer Center, Infusion Suites team. This position offers a full-time day shift opportunity.

Sign-On Bonus - $2,000

Salary Range: Minimum $33,800 - Midpoint $41,766*

*Compensation is based on total relevant experience.

*Salary is calculated based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) or 40 hours per week. For those working less than 40 hours/week, salary will be prorated accordingly.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Healthcare Support Specialist will carry out a variety of administrative and clinical tasks within a UNMMG Ambulatory Clinic. Responsibilities include direct patient interaction, either via phone or in person, which encompasses patient registration, demographic verification, appointment scheduling, insurance benefit/eligibility verification, obtaining referrals and prior authorizations, managing patient check-in/check-out processes, and collecting co-pays. The role also involves gathering patient data and medical histories, as well as performing routine Medical Assistant duties.

Essential Qualifications for the Healthcare Support Specialist:

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and possession of a Graduate Certificate
  3. National Medical Assistant Certification or Registration within 6 months of hire
  4. BLS certification

Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required upon selection for hire.
