UNM Medical Group, Inc. - Clinic Registration Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinic Registration Specialist to join our Clinical Operations Group at UNM Medical Group, Inc. in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is a full-time day shift opportunity with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of registration, scheduling, order processing, insurance verification, and prior authorizations.
  • Interview patients and/or families to obtain demographic and insurance information and update appropriate systems.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits for all patient visits in assigned area.
  • Conduct frontline training for processes to include registration, financial/cash management, billing, prior authorizations, scheduling, mail/courier process, end of day processes, computer programs- IDX and Cerner.
  • Obtain insurance verification system access for employees who verify insurance eligibility.
  • Provide ongoing communication and training of UNMMG frontline staff and notify of any insurance notifications or changes to contracted/non-contracted insurance companies.
  • Communicate Payer Alerts, from Office of Clinical Contracting to all clinics.
  • Coordinate and process referrals and prior authorization information into the appropriate systems to ensure proper flow to Revenue Cycle to ensure proper reimbursement.
  • Maintain record keeping and filing systems; gather, enter, and update required data.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of directly related experience acquired working in a medical environment.
  • Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
