Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Registration and Eligibility Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our Admitting and Registration department, you will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive accurate and timely registration and eligibility services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Registration and Eligibility: Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, obtain necessary signatures and documentation, and ensure accurate and timely registration of patients.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Data Entry and Research: Accurately and efficiently enter patient data into our computer systems, perform research as needed, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Financial Assistance: Interview patients and families to determine eligibility for financial assistance programs, complete applications, and maintain certification with the State.
  • Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance professional growth and development, and provide training to registration and admitting personnel as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: High School or GED Equivalent
  • Experience: 2 years directly related experience
  • Credentials: Not Applicable/Not Required
Working Conditions

This is a sedentary position that involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing. The work environment is office-based, with minimal hazard or physical risk.
