Cancer Registry Specialist

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a skilled Cancer Registrar to join our team in Oncology Quality Services. As a Cancer Registrar, you will play a critical role in the management of the cancer registry, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of cancer data.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain primary responsibility for tumor registry, including casefinding, abstraction, and follow-up for patients with a malignancy.
- Assure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of casefinding, abstracting, and follow-up activities of the cancer registry.
- Monitor and assure computerized data management system is in compliance with Commission on Cancer standards.
- Assure timely reporting of cancer data to the national Cancer Database (NCDB).
- Analyze registry data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Generate reports and present data as requested by the medical staff, cancer committee, hospital administration, and State of Michigan registry.
- Coordinate cancer committee activities and all tumor conferences.
- Participate with all CoC and State auditing activities.
- Monitor cancer program activities and assure compliance with ACoS requirements for approved cancer program.
- Coordinate information for the Annual Cancer Report.
- Degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, or Social Work with strong medical background and experience in a clinical setting required.
- Patient relations and/or quality improvement experience preferred.
- Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Applications.
