Position Overview:

The Cancer Genetics Program at Corewell Health System is in search of a Section Chief who is board certified or board eligible in Medical Genetics or Oncology. This leadership role presents an exceptional opportunity for the physician to significantly influence the growth and development of the program in West Michigan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Cancer Genetics Program.
  • Growth: Foster the expansion of services and outreach within the community.
  • Quality, Safety & Clinical Innovation: Ensure the highest standards of patient care and implement innovative practices.
  • Development of People: Mentor and support the professional growth of team members.
  • Patient Service and Perception of Care: Enhance patient experiences and satisfaction.
  • Finance: Manage budgetary responsibilities and resource allocation.
  • Academic and Faculty Affairs: Engage in educational initiatives and collaborations.

Clinical Duties:

This role involves assessing patients at risk for hereditary cancer syndromes, discussing risk reduction strategies, and recommending preventive measures and treatments. The physician will collaborate with a skilled team of genetic counselors, oncologists, and other specialists to provide comprehensive care for high-risk patients.

Qualifications:

  • Board eligible or board certified in Medical Genetics or Oncology
  • Valid Physician License (MD or DO)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
