Job Overview

Position Title: Independence Support Paraeducator

Role Summary: This position is dedicated to providing tailored behavioral interventions and essential medical assistance to students within educational environments. The facilitator will support both individual students and small groups to promote effective learning experiences. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with educators to enhance instructional methods and manage classroom dynamics across both special education and general education settings, including lunch and recreational areas.

Employment Details:

  • Work Schedule: 182 workdays annually
  • Employment Type: Full Time
  • Compensation: $26.21 per hour, with a structured salary scale based on experience
  • Location: Foothill High School
  • Hours: 7 hours per day, 5 days per week

Benefits Package: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options are available for employees working 4 or more hours daily, with full district contributions for those working 6 or more hours.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and successfully complete a competency assessment that demonstrates proficiency in assisting with reading, writing, and mathematics instruction. Alternatively, completion of at least 48 college credit units may fulfill this requirement.

Licensure and Certifications:

Applicants may need to hold a valid driver's license and comply with district skill and competency standards. A valid First Aid/CPR certification may also be required.

  • Evidence of NCLB Compliance (48 college units or passing the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam)
  • Proof of High School Graduation (Diploma or Transcripts)
  • Current Resume (demonstrating relevant experience)
