About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Revenue Cycle Access Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals. As a key member of our Revenue Cycle team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely registration, patient estimates, and point of service collections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interviews and Registers Patients: Conduct thorough interviews with patients to gather demographic and insurance information, and accurately register patients in our system.
  • Verifies Insurance Benefits: Utilize electronic eligibility tools, phone calls, and web portals to verify patients' insurance benefits and coverage.
  • Executes Patient Estimates: Educate patients on charges and out-of-pocket liability, and establish payment plans as needed.
  • Collects and Posts Payments: Successfully collect and post co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and prior balances due from patients.
  • Prevents Medical Record Duplications: Take steps to prevent medical record duplications or incorrect patient selection, ensuring patient safety and safeguarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Communicates with Physicians and Clinical Providers: Contact physicians or clinical providers to validate or clarify information on orders, schedules, or other requirements.
  • Utilizes Electronic Reports and Worklists: Identify claims requiring updating and make corrections as needed to ensure accurate and timely billing.
  • Schedules Patient Appointments: Utilize multiple software applications to schedule professional and technical patient appointments.
  • Completes Daily Reconciliation: Complete daily reconciliation of the Important Medicare Message (IMM) and Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ) in accordance with Government regulations.
  • Maintains Patient and Physician Confidentiality: Follow department policy and procedures, and maintain patient and physician confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Equivalent or GED
  • Work Experience: 1+ years of healthcare or customer service experience
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficiency in utilizing multiple complex software solutions, dependable work ethic, notable client service and communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
