Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dentist (Chief, Dental Officer) to join our team at the Department of Justice. As a key member of our dental services team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality dental care to our inmate population, while also overseeing the management and coordination of our dental program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive dental care to inmates, including evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of dental diseases and disorders.
  • Oversee the management and coordination of the dental program, including budget development, statistical and narrative summary reports, and quality control measures.
  • Establish and maintain quality control measures to ensure that dental services meet the standards set forth by the American Dental Association and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
  • Provide input for budget development and assist in the creation of statistical and narrative summary reports.
  • Recommend and write local policies and procedures relating to dental health care.
  • Maintain security of the institution and perform staff correctional responsibilities on a regular and recurring basis.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • One or more full years of experience performing professional dentistry work for GS-12 level and above assignments.
  • Completed a 3-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to distinguish shades of color and work in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
