Family Support Specialist

The In-Home Family Program serves families facing the risk of child removal due to neglect or abuse, as well as those in need of timely reunification services.
Our In-Home Family Services encompass a range of support including parent education, home management, organizational skills, counseling, and other essential skill development tailored to the unique needs of each family.
This is a part-time role.

- Promptly receive and accept written referrals from MDHHS.
- Manage an active caseload.
- Deliver in-home services, strength-based training, and educational support to children and parents.
- Collaborate with referral sources to develop service plans for families.
- Create emergency and safety plans for families facing crises or risks to children.
- Complete necessary documentation and follow up as required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Possess a non-judgmental and positive attitude towards families in crisis.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and service providers.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with brief, solution-focused therapy and strength-based intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of local resources.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in human service fields such as social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, community services, family studies, child development, guidance counseling, or criminal justice is required.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of practical experience working with children and families facing multiple challenges, demonstrating the ability to engage and relate effectively with families.
