Job Summary

A professionally owned and managed property management company, Odin Management, is seeking a Senior Property Management Accountant to oversee and manage the financial operations related to a regional residential property portfolio. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in real estate accounting, a strong analytical mindset, and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties, ensuring accuracy and completeness in financial reporting.
• Perform account reconciliations for property-related accounts, including bank, general ledger, and subsidiary accounts, and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in the preparation of property budgets and forecasts, analyzing financial performance against budget and providing insights on variances.
• Manage lease accounting processes, including rent rolls, lease abstracts, and tenant billing, ensuring compliance with lease agreements and accounting standards.
• Collaborate with property managers and other departments to address financial issues, streamline processes, and provide financial analysis.
• Prepare documentation for external CPAs assisting in annual tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in property accounting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate accounting or property management accounting.
• Strong understanding of real estate accounting principles, lease accounting, and property financial management.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
