Industrial Equipment Technician

At MARY ANN'S BAKING CO., Inc., our Industrial Equipment Technicians play a crucial role in supporting our production and facility operations by ensuring the optimal upkeep of machinery and mechanical systems. This is achieved through our proactive maintenance strategy while assisting with equipment installations, significant repairs, and addressing equipment failures.

The position involves collaboration with a team of technicians, electricians, machine operators, and production personnel, under the guidance of a Shift Supervisor or Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guarantee the functionality of machinery and mechanical systems by fulfilling preventive maintenance obligations on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production equipment; adhering to diagrams, operational manuals, manufacturer guidelines, and engineering specifications; diagnosing malfunctions.
  • Identify sources of issues by observing mechanical devices in action; listening for irregularities; utilizing precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Dismantle devices to remove defective components; employing hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; assessing the condition of parts.
  • Evaluate changes in dimensional specifications of components by inspecting used parts; utilizing rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
  • Adjust functional components of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Minimize downtime by educating production staff on routine preventive maintenance practices; overseeing adherence.
  • Fabricate replacement parts using machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Manage equipment, parts, and supply inventories by monitoring stock levels; anticipating necessary equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; confirming receipts.
  • Optimize maintenance resources by utilizing equipment and supplies judiciously to achieve job outcomes.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance insights by addressing inquiries and requests.
  • Compile mechanical maintenance reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Enhance technical knowledge by participating in educational workshops; reviewing technical literature; building professional networks.
  • Ensure continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contribute to team success by achieving related results as necessary.
  • Essential skills include equipment maintenance, technical comprehension, adaptability to uncertainty, basic safety knowledge, proficiency with power tools, attention to detail, flexibility, supervision, job expertise, and productivity.

Qualifications:

Skills/Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience as a Journey-level technician in a manufacturing or industrial setting, including:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Mechanic/Technician certification program
  • 7+ years of relevant journey-level work experience
  • 3-4 years of experience in high-speed packaging and/or production equipment maintenance
  • Proven technical understanding
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to effectively use power tools
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Willingness to work various shifts and/or overtime as required
