Position Summary:

The Pipefitter is responsible for overseeing, executing, and coordinating all aspects of installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of systems and service work in both new and renovated facilities. This role includes planning daily activities for the crew to ensure efficient workflow.

Essential Job Functions:

Production Responsibilities:

  • Interpret specifications and read blueprints accurately.
  • Assist in the layout of work for the crew.
  • Pre-plan daily activities to optimize crew productivity and adhere to job schedules.
  • Monitor quality control of work performed by craft workers.
  • Order and coordinate the delivery of necessary materials.
  • Complete all required documentation and project-related reports, including Daily Reports, Safety Reports, and Inspection Reports.
  • Coordinate equipment needs, ensuring operators are qualified and that all equipment is maintained and repaired promptly.
  • Support the jobsite Superintendent in coordinating project activities.
  • May perform related trade work as necessary.
  • Travel to various job sites on short notice.
  • Implement improved production methods to enhance best practices within the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Quality Assurance:

  • Oversee crew installation for quality assurance.
  • Ensure work areas maintain high-quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

Safety Management:

  • Promote and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Train crew members in safe work practices for assigned tasks.
  • Conduct audits of safe work practices, ensuring proper use of PPE.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating craft workers.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate daily activities of craft workers.
  • Complete employee status reports for any changes in job status.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of crew members.
  • Manage a team of six or more employees and Foremen.
  • Mentor and train new workers.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Four years of relevant experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with health and safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Active participation in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
  • Exemplify safe behavior at all times.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic mathematical skills for weight measurement and volume calculations.
  • Common sense understanding to execute instructions provided in written or oral form.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and follow established procedures and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with team members and supervisors.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts performing physically demanding tasks in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
  • Physical strength and stamina to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to work in confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • Ability to work at heights and comply with all safety requirements.

Hours:
This is a full-time position typically requiring 50 hours of work per week, subject to project demands.

Travel:
Travel may be required up to 90%, necessitating presence directly on project sites.
