POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pipefitter is responsible for overseeing, executing, and coordinating all aspects of installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of systems in both new and remodeled facilities. This role also involves planning daily activities for the crew.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Production:

  • Interpret specifications and blueprints effectively.
  • Assist in the layout of work for the crew.
  • Pre-plan daily activities to ensure crew productivity aligns with job schedules.
  • Monitor quality control of work performed by craft workers.
  • Order and coordinate the delivery of necessary materials.
  • Complete all project-related documentation, including Daily Reports, Safety Reports, and Inspection Reports.
  • Coordinate equipment needs, ensuring operators are qualified and equipment is maintained.
  • Support the jobsite Superintendent in coordinating project activities.
  • May perform related trade work as necessary.
  • Travel to various job sites on short notice.
  • Implement improved production methods to enhance best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Quality:

  • Monitor crew installations for quality assurance.
  • Ensure work areas maintain high-quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

Safety:

  • Promote adherence to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Train crew members in safe work practices.
  • Conduct audits of safe work practices, ensuring proper use of PPE.

SUPERVISORY:

  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating field employees.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate daily activities of craft workers.
  • Complete evaluations for employees with changes in job status.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of crew members.
  • Manage a team of six or more employees and Foreman.
  • Train and mentor new workers.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4 years of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Familiarity with health and safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Active participation in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operational manuals.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Common sense understanding to execute written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to maintain accurate standards and follow established procedures.
  • Maintain strong relationships with team members and supervisors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts in varying temperatures and conditions.
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined and cluttered spaces.
  • May require working at heights and adhering to safety protocols.

HOURS:

This is a Full-Time position, typically requiring 50 hours of work per week, subject to project requirements.

TRAVEL:

Travel may be required up to 90%, necessitating presence at project sites.
