Senior Student Services Specialist

Join The George Washington University as a Senior Student Services Specialist and play a vital role in supporting the academic success of our graduate students. As a key member of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS) Graduate Student Services team, you will serve as a point of contact for prospective students throughout their academic journey, providing guidance on academic processes and policies, and assisting with registration, graduate clearances, and exception requests.
Key Responsibilities:- Advise students on registration, graduation, and exception requests, ensuring they meet university and CCAS policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to provide support and guidance on university policies and procedures.
- Review and audit student records, tracking degree progress and making recommendations regarding academic standing.
- Process CCAS and University forms, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Research and evaluate complex problems and requests, liaising with other GW contacts as needed to find solutions.
- Assist the admissions team during seasonal peaks, evaluating applications for completeness and eligibility.
- Plan and participate in events, including student orientation, the GW Doctoral Hooding Ceremony, and University Commencement.
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study.
- High attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, technical, and management skills, with a focus on problem-solving and critical thinking.
- High proficiency with personal computers and adapting to new software.
- Experience in admissions and/or student services at an institution of higher learning is a plus.
