The Senior Collections Specialist is essential to the organization’s financial operations and will work closely with partners, the billing team, and firm leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily collections operations, adhering to established procedures.
- Manage the full collections cycle, from client outreach to payment plan negotiation and collection finalization.
- Communicate with clients about overdue accounts, sending collection notices and reminders as needed.
- Conduct account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Prepare and analyze reports on collection statuses; regularly update partners, the Billing and Revenue Operations Director, and others.
- Collaborate with the billing team to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate payment recording.
- Assist attorneys with accounts receivable inquiries, promoting effective communication and problem-solving.
- Work with team members to develop strategies to improve collections processes.
- Coordinate with partners and finance staff to resolve billing or collection issues promptly.
- Gain a thorough understanding of billing functions and cross-train as needed.
- Undertake additional billing duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of collections experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting.
- Strong understanding of legal billing and collection procedures.
- Proficiency in Aderant or similar legal billing systems.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office and adaptability to new technical systems.
