Job Summary:

The Program Director for Internal Medicine Residency Program will be responsible for the overall administration, curriculum development, recruitment, and teaching and supervision of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. The successful candidate will establish the strategic direction of the program and ensure the highest standards of quality and reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Teaching and Supervision: Provide clinical teaching and supervision to residents, ensuring they receive high-quality education and training.
  • Core Program Clinical Teaching: Develop and deliver core clinical teaching programs that meet the needs of residents and the program.
  • General Administration: Oversee the general administration of the program, including budgeting, personnel management, and facilities management.
  • GME Committees/Meetings: Participate in GME committees and meetings to ensure the program's compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • GME Lecturing/Teaching Conferences: Develop and deliver lectures and teaching conferences for residents and faculty members.
  • GME Recruiting/Interviewing: Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process for residents and faculty members.
  • GME Research/Scholarly Activity: Encourage and support research and scholarly activity among residents and faculty members.
  • Resident Evaluation/Monitoring: Evaluate and monitor resident performance, providing feedback and support to ensure their success.
  • Program Evaluation: Conduct regular evaluations of the program to ensure its quality and effectiveness.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have three to five years of Internal Medicine post-residency clinical experience, as well as core faculty experience in an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency program. A minimum of three years of GME teaching/administrative experience as Program Director or Associate Program Director is also required. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, active involvement in research and scholarship, and mentorship experience of residents and students in scholarship and development of scholarship programs. Inpatient and administrative experience is preferred.
