Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Insurance Collections Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of insurance claims and collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide liaison services between healthcare providers, patients, and insurance carriers to ensure accurate and timely claims processing.
- Maintain active communication with insurance carriers and third-party payers to resolve account discrepancies and negotiate payment.
- Update patient account information and monitor payer denial trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Run monthly aging reports to identify accounts requiring follow-up and manage assigned worklists on a daily basis.
- Utilize collection techniques to resolve accounts according to company policies and procedures.
- Report coding-related denials to the Coding Specialist and perform research to ensure proper reimbursement of claims.
- Assist with special projects assigned by the Billing Manager or Supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 2 years' experience in insurance collections.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel and Office products.
- Experience with HMO, PPO, and Medicare insurances.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations, policies, and procedures.
