Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ombudsman Liaison to join our team at Elevance Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating services with local community organizations and working with local advocacy organizations to ensure that members receiving supports through the LTSS/HCBS Waiver programs have access to Covered Services and non-covered services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate services with local community organizations to ensure access to Covered Services and non-covered services for members receiving supports through the LTSS/HCBS Waiver programs.
  • Work with local advocacy organizations to identify and address barriers to care and ensure that members have access to necessary services and supports.
  • Interact with Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) staff to submit reports and ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve access to care and quality of care for members.
  • Collaborate with care coordinators to link members to necessary services and supports.
  • Coordinate with schools, community agencies, and state agencies to provide services to members, with a special emphasis on foster children.
  • Recommend policy and procedural changes to improve member access to care and quality of care.
  • Participate in local community organizations to acquire knowledge and insight regarding the special healthcare needs of members.
  • Analyze systems functions through meetings with staff to identify areas for improvement.
  • Organize and provide training and educational materials for staff and providers to enhance their understanding of cultural competency and values.
  • Provide input to management on how provider changes will affect member access and quality/continuity of care.
  • Review all informational material to be distributed to members.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience, or any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.
  • Proven track record of developing programs and services for LTSS or Behavioral Health populations.
Preferred Skills and Experiences
  • 2 years of experience in a healthcare-related field with experience working with LTSS or Behavioral Health populations, preferably working with low-income populations, and have demonstrated expertise in topics related to LTSS, resiliency, and recovery, and cultural competency.
