Position Overview

The Airfield Lighting Engineering Project Lead is responsible for managing comprehensive project workflows within the Airfield Lighting division. This role encompasses the entire project lifecycle, from proposal development to execution and completion. Key responsibilities include supervising all technical elements of airport lighting initiatives, ensuring the quality and integrity of documentation, and coordinating with engineers and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Oversight: Direct the design and management of airport lighting systems, including Runway and Taxiway lighting, Approach Lighting, NAVAIDS, and Weather Reporting Aids, ensuring precision and thoroughness in all design efforts.
  • Design Coordination: Collaborate with team members to address various design components necessary for project completion, involving detailed plans, surveys, and equipment specifications.
  • Documentation Preparation: Compile comprehensive project documentation, including plans, specifications, and engineering estimates, by gathering and organizing project data effectively.
  • Technical Evaluation: Assess and adapt standard techniques and criteria to project tasks, addressing and resolving engineering challenges.
  • Multi-Project Management: Handle multiple projects of varying sizes efficiently, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and timelines.
  • Proposal Development: Create proposals that include bid documents, project reports, and relevant studies.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend project meetings to present engineering aspects and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Coordination of Activities: Ensure alignment of technical and administrative efforts with other departments involved in the project.
  • Compliance Assurance: Guarantee that engineering activities align with company and contractual requirements, supporting the overall project timeline, scope, and budget.
  • Conflict Resolution: Interpret contract specifications and mediate disputes with contractors regarding specifications and quality standards.
  • Progress Tracking: Maintain an updated list of project milestones and issues.
  • Status Reporting: Prepare monthly project status updates and manage change orders.
  • Client Interaction: Engage in meetings with clients and contractors to address project-related concerns.
  • Scope and Budget Management: Develop detailed project scopes, tasks, budgets, and schedules.
Business Development Responsibilities:
  • Support marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Engage in industry forums and networking opportunities.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential clients.
  • Collaborate with clients, officials, and project teams.
  • Prepare scope and fee proposals for client review.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong skills in MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Comprehensive understanding of Federal and State funding processes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of personnel and clients.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information.
  • Proficient in English language usage, including grammar and vocabulary.
Licensure Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Professional Engineer licensure with the ability to obtain Florida licensure within six months.
  • Preference for candidates who can obtain licensure in multiple states.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position includes supervisory duties.

Work Environment:

Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable office environment, with occasional site visits in outdoor settings. While evening and weekend work is not standard, it may be required occasionally with little notice.

Physical Requirements:

Regular communication is required, and prolonged sitting is common. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting of up to 40 pounds may be necessary. Vision requirements include close vision and color perception.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Compliance with client site protocols regarding personal protective equipment is mandatory, including gloves, hard hats, safety vests, and other necessary gear.
