Job Summary

At Meta, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible with augmented and virtual reality. As a Structural Design Engineer, you'll play a critical role in developing the next generation of AR/VR products. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to design and analyze the structural integrity of our products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and analyze finite element models to assess the structural integrity of AR/VR products
  • Collaborate with product design, manufacturing design, and materials teams to ensure seamless integration of structural design into the product development process
  • Perform module-level shock and thermo-mechanical analyses to ensure product reliability
  • Participate in structural design reviews and present FEA results to cross-functional teams and leadership
  • Collaborate with the materials team and/or outside vendors to characterize materials and components
  • Work with REL and DVE teams on FEA model validation and development of technical specifications
Requirements
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of experience in structural design
  • Fundamental understanding of solid mechanics, strength of materials, and finite element analysis
  • Experience with FEA software such as HyperMesh, SimLab, Abaqus, and ANSYS
  • Proven analytical skills based on first principles
  • Effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in material modeling and testing
  • Knowledge of failure modeling of different types of materials
  • Experience with Abaqus, HyperMesh, and SimLab
  • Experience in validation tests
  • Experience with DIC, Universal Testing Machine, and DMA
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (NX and/or SolidWorks)
Compensation and Benefits

$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
